Rule/Policy Changes for 2023
Aug. 12th, 2023 09:51 pmHello friends! Obviously all of you are extremely great participants who 100% reread our full rules and nominations guidelines and everything every year in extreme detail. You probably take physical, color coded notes. So proud of you. But here is a short list of everything we've changed for this round (besides things we already said we'd change in last year's wrap up post) just in case you lose your special FIAB Rules Notebook, or can't read your own handwriting:
- Although it was a rule that you couldn't use AI last year, we didn't actually have it in our rules post. This sentence now lives under the assignment requirement section: Works may not be wholly or partially created by generative text or art programs (so-called “AI”) such as chatGPT or OpenArt.ai. This includes content which you don't intend to receive wordcount credit — AI content is not allowed in the collection.
- The fandoms transfer post has new limits. Each person can transfer up to 10 fandoms. If a fandom you want to transfer has 40+ relationships, you'll have to give us a list of 1-20 tags you want transferred instead of getting all of the relationships transferred automatically.
- Sestina poems got their equivalent changed. They're now worth 2k because they're so long.
- Elegy poems got their minimum changed. You now have to write 3 stanzas for 1k of wordcount credit.
- We've decided to limit the number of characters that can be included in a relationship tag to six characters.
