The Monstrumologist Series
Date: 2021-08-04 10:03 pm (UTC)Medium/Length: Four YA Novels, roughly 300-500 pages each
Where to find it: The series is widely available in print and can be found wherever you get books!
What is it, in summary? The Monstrumologist series, a horror fantasy that takes place in late 1880s America, revolves around Will Henry and Pellinore Warthrop, the two of them seeking out monsters for study, following Will Henry's point of view as he acts as Warthrop's assistant and becomes further exposed to the horrors in the world. Each book gets progressively darker, with Will Henry and Warthrop's bond becoming strained as Will Henry grows older.
What do you love about it? The bond between Will Henry and Warthrop is the centerpiece of the story for me as a fucked-up codependent relationship, but there's also the excellent horror elements with a strong gothic vibe throughout the entire series.
Content warnings: There's a fair amount of gore and murder. It also involves themes of PTSD and trauma throughout.
