I'll see if I can find someone who has experience with them to give an opinion. My instinct is the same as yours (that the equivalent to 1k should be less than a minute, since they're so much work).

There are some potential works where we'll need the equivalence to be 10k instead, and this may be one of those. The nom will stay in limbo for a bit until I figure it out :)
