All of this is with the caveat that I am not personally familiar with knitting or crochet, so for this one I'm heavily leaning on the expertise of people who are!

1. I'd like to keep them separate, for exactly that half of your arguments! As long as the less strictly grid crochet charts have *something* I can count then we'll be able to figure it out (from a quick google they look complicated, so it might also be a "Please tell me how many of the thing in your top authors note so that I only need to make sure it looks ballpark correct instead of fully counting" situation)

2. I'd be fine with either of these options, depending on which you think it's closer to! My guess is that doing it similarly to the knitting chart rule would probably be more fair, especially since the instruction-set rules are based on wordcount.

2a. I think it should count for both if both are requested/submitted!
